MARCH 1, 2010:
Daryl Hall:
To say that I am shocked is the ultimate understatement. T-Bone was my musical brother and losing him is like losing my right hand. It’s not if I will go on, but how. T-Bone was one of the most sensitive and good human beings that I have ever known. And, I can truly say that I loved him. John Oates:
His character was pure and his unique and quirky personality touched everyone he encountered. His musical sensibility was peerless, any instrument that he touched resonated with a sensitivity and skill level that I have never experienced while playing with any other musician. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of styles and musical history which he referenced to support all the artists that he played with over the years. He became our band's musical director over time leading by example and by the deference and respect that everyone who...
"She's Gone" was released as a single from Hall & Oates' 1973 album Abandoned Luncheonette, peaking at No. 60 on the Billboard Hot 100. After a cover version from Tavares, an American R&B band, topped the R&B chart in 1974, Atlantic Records re-released Hall & Oates' version two years later. It became a hit, reaching No. 7 on the Hot 100 chart. Lou Rawls also recorded the song for his 1975 album of the same name. “THE VILLAGE: A CELEBRATION OF THE MUSIC OF GREENWICH VILLAGE”
—a musical homage to an influential scene that thrived during an incomparable
era in the history of rock music. The Greenwich Village neighborhood of New
York City in the 1960’s was ground zero for a musical, political and social evolution--
McCarthy and the Red Scare era was over, the Vietnam War was simmering and
poised to explode, and the civil rights movement was gaining steam just as singers
like Peter Seeger, Bob Dylan and Odetta were hanging out and composing fierce and
fearless songs that reflected the social conscience of a generation. The neighborhood
was symbolic of a shared inspiration with artists worldwide gravitating to the vibrant
streets and clubs and as such helped change the course of popular music. Featuring: Shelby Lynne, Lucinda Williams,...

The Stories Behind the Songs A member of the American Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, John Oates’ passion for song writing was the inspiration for his new music series : “ THE STORIES BEHIND THE SONGS”, presented by the Wheeler Opera House and Jazz Aspen. The idea for the show was born when John was invited to do a seminar at the legendary Berklee College of Music in Boston. That experience led to the development of his solo concert performances that have garnered rave reviews and become a “can’t miss show” for fans around the world. He explains, “I realized that although people were very familiar with many of the songs that I have written over the years ...they had no idea about who or what was the inspiration behind them....
It’s been two years in the making: Animal Media Foundation (AMF) has completed Giving Animals A Voice Through Music: The Best Friends 25th Anniversary Collection, a two-CD release that benefits the work of Best Friends. The collection features contributions from 24 influential artists in the music world, including Cyndi Lauper, John Oates, Neko Case and Emmylou Harris. The musician/producer behind this project is Dexter K. Brown. He and his life partner, Carol Scafuro, founded AMF, an organization dedicated to promoting animal welfare through collaborations within the music community. Giving Animals A Voice Through Music is their most ambitious project to date. John's song, "1000 Miles of Life" appears on disc two of the collection.

In the 13th edition of Live from Daryl's House, on Nov. 15, Daryl Hall joins with John Oates to celebrate the groundbreaking web-show's one-year anniversary by playing for the first time a song they insist was instrumental in bringing them together back in Philadelphia. In the latest installment of the popular web destination, Daryl and John will spotlight Oates' recently released solo album, 1000 Miles of Life, which he recorded in Nashville with such noted collaborators as bluegrass legends Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush, who hadn't played together since their days in New Grass Revival. The highlight, though, is the duo's cover of the Memphis doo-wop obscurity, "I Want Someone," by The Mad Lads. "It's the song that first brought John and I together as teenagers to form a group," says Daryl. "We shared a love for the tune, which, in my mind, is true American folk music." "It was a favorite...
